圖書館編目得好或不好，都會影響OPAC的使用性或是受歡迎的程度
不過很明顯的，近年來在Amazon、Google等資訊供應者的強權壓境之下
圖書館OPAC已經不是考量編目品質的問題就可以了
而是需要考量到更多層面，從資訊類型、編目方式、介面、功能等
都不斷考驗圖書館的應變能力～
以及將來這幾年圖書館將會在整個資訊環境下所扮演的角色
FRBR會是一個圖書館的反擊機會嗎？還是只是個泡影？

目錄的使用（探討重點在於OPAC為何不被喜歡）

Borgman C. L. (1996). Why Are Online Catalogs Still Hard to Use? Journal of the American Society for Inormation Science, 47(7), 493-503.

• Borgman(1996)將使用者在資訊檢索中所需的知識分為哪三種(1986時是兩種)，試詳述其意涵。

Fast, K. L. & Cambell, D.G. (2004). “I still like Google”: University students perceptions of searching OPACs and the web, Proceeding of the ASIS&T Annual Meeting, 41(1), 138-146.

• 雖然使用者肯定OPAC的資料是受良好組織與編目而成，卻仍然偏好網頁的搜尋器來進行資訊檢索(如Google)，試述其原因。

Hartly, R.J. & Booth, H. (2006). User and Union Catalogues. Journal of librarianship and information Science, 38(1), 7-20.

• 結論可供參考～使用者對三種聯合目錄進行之研究
• 老師補充
  無論是實體或虛擬的聯合目錄，其目的皆在於「找出資料的location」
  透過如，圖書資訊資源的識別物ISBN、ISSN
  進行各種書目記錄的集體查詢與整併
  且使用時機往往是Known item
  另外，虛擬聯合書目的「回應時間」必須有一定程度的一致性

編目館員與Metadata專家(跳脫傳統角色)
